Welcoming the New Year at Independence Manor

Building Health Habits for the New Year

January is a time to slow down and begin the new year with a sense of comfort and optimism. As the winter season settles in, our community focuses on building healthy habits to bring into the New Year.

This January, we’re embracing the season by focusing on:

  • Comfort during winter days
Cozy indoor spaces, warm meals, and familiar routines help make even the coldest days feel welcoming. Whether residents are going to an exercise class, having a meal in the restaurant style dining room, or sitting in the living room with friends, they do not have to leave the comfort of their home! There is no need to shovel the driveway or brave the cold to go to the store; those things are all managed for the residents. This leaves residents more time to prioritize themselves and their health in the Winter months.

  • Mind and body wellness

Exercise and movement are important all year round. While living in an Assisted Living Community like Independence Manor, there are exercise classes offered daily to promote movement in even the coldest weather. Whether it is participating in AM exercise, Open Gym, or just walking the halls with friends, our residents know the importance of movement every day.

  • Trying something new
January encourages exploration at a relaxed pace. This is a great time to explore new interests and hobbies like creative activities or games. Check out our
Activities Calendar to see what different activities and events are being held this month!

As the year begins, our community remains a place of care, comfort, and belonging. We look forward to another year filled with connection and support.

Sharing Warmth and Kindness throughout our Community
February 1, 2026
February may be a short month, but it’s filled with meaningful moments that bring people together. As winter continues, this is a perfect time to slow down and focus on the relationships and simple joys that make each day special in our community. A Month of Friendship and Appreciation With Valentine’s Day in February, the month naturally centers around love and appreciation. In our Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities, that means celebrating not only romance, but friendships, family bonds, and the caring connections between residents and staff. It’s a reminder to show appreciation for the friends and family that offer support in everyday life. Simple gestures like a kind word or time spent together can make a big difference, especially during the winter months. Cozy Activities for Cold Days While colder weather may keep us inside more often, there are plenty of ways to stay engaged and energized. February is a great time for group activities like games, crafts, music, and storytelling. These moments not only keep minds and bodies active but also strengthen the sense of community that makes assisted living feel like home. Take a look at our Activities Calendar to see what events we have scheduled for the month! Taking Care of Ourselves and Each Other Winter is a great reminder of the importance of self-care and wellness. Knowing that help is always available due to our 24/7 nursing staff gives residents peace of mind throughout the day. Whether it’s enjoying a warm meal, staying active with our AM Exercise or Open Gym, or taking time to rest and recharge, February encourages us to focus on our health and well-being. This February we celebrate the kindness, care, and connections that make our Assisted Living Community a place where everyone feels supported and at home.
